The great art of Barbara O'Toole

So subtle, deviant, witty...

It lead me to modestly try to make my own artworks.

It looks like the last artworks were made years ago. Anyone knows what she/he is doing now?

  1. That woman is SO talented! She elevated spanking art to a whole new level. A damn shame she seems to have vanished from the scene. 'Barb' - WE MISS YOU!!

  2. Hi Alex.

I've always loved Barb's work too. I remember when I first came across it I was amazed by how perfectly it matched my kink - as though someone had tapped directly into my psyche and was drawing what she found there! Her work in turn was a strong influence on mine - ordinary guys routinely stripped and spanked in domestic settings, by ordinary, smiling women of all shapes and ages. What's not to love?

I actually had a comment on my blog, apparently from Barb, a few months ago. That was a huge thrill, especially since she called herself a fan. Was it really from her? Who knows, but I'd certainly like to think so!

  3. Exactly! It was good to find something different from the leather and dungeons. It's much more realistic. Actually I have witnessed a scene that was close to one of her drawing! I shall post something about the link between reality and the pictures I do.

Wow!! I hope she is still around, and I hope she will resume her superb artwork someday. My guess is that she keeps it for herself now. Her work is deviant and maybe she had problem with censorship, even if it is just fiction after all : /

  4. Alex - thank you for posting varied selection of barb's pictures - covering not only the subject of spanking that i knew she covered - but also the new subjects to me of medical examinations and also of public upsets!

i wonder if you - or anyone else here - knows if there is anything available anywhere that is a something like an index or a directory of the barb pictures?

it crosses my mind that it would be great fun trying to build a complete collection of her pictures.

but i'm sure it would be better not to think of starting on any such project without some idea in advance of the size of the mountain to be climbed!

    thanks again

    2. Unfortunately the Barbfan Yahoo Group no longer exists. I am attempting to put together a collection of Barb's work which I'll most likely place on Pinterest or Flikr or both. Check out my blog - BEHIND THE BARRED WINDOW - from time to time for details, as and when I get it done (see below).

  6. Nurse Stanley couldn’t help but smile. The headmistress had an uncanny knack, it seemed, for showing up at the infirmary every time she was about to administer an enema to one of the male students. Nurse Stanley was convinced the headmistress had a special fondness for the boys’ backsides.

    1. "Sweetie, I know it hurts. That"s why I want the nurse to have a look. So be a good boy for her and climb up on the bed and get on all fours so she can check your bottom."

  7. I have been trying to find a copy of Barb's "Andy Be Still." Anyone have that one?!?

  8. I'm a big Barb fan too. Some of her works are such a big turn on for me! They are so realistic, and tho some of the women are not beautiful, I find them very sexy, especially since they are taking control of the situation at hand.

  9. Everybody might be excited to hear that my new book, "Spanking for Lovers" (which includes material from my previous books "The Compleat Spanker" and "The Toybag Guide to Canes and Caning"), will include illustrations by Barb!

    1. Is that by agreement / collaboration with Barb or unofficial. I ask because I'm a massive fan but I prefer F/F and F/f and also have an issue with how young some of her protagonists appear, so I'm presently attempting to create new 'Barbs' closer to my sensibilities from elements of her existing ones but would rather do so in collaboration, as I have done for and with Roger Benson recently (I've used elements from his work on one of my book covers and will do so again on my upcoming new work)

    2. It is a collaboration with Barb, quite official - all this art is brand-new and created especially for this book, under contract. Upon my request, she has provided art representing all possible combinations of spanker/spankee, including F/f, as well as a mix of races and body types (and nobody who appears to be underage). I think you'll enjoy them. The book should be available by New Year's.

      Best,
      Janet
